KERATIN MONTELLA
How to use Montella Keratin
- Pre-treatment wash (alkaline shampoo): Wash the hair thoroughly twice using Shampoo No. 1 (pre-keratin). Processing time: During the second wash, allow the lather to sit on the hair for 5 minutes to ensure the hair cuticles are fully opened. Rinsing: Rinse the hair completely to remove all residue (do not use any hair masks or conditioners at this stage).
- Initial drying: Dry the hair using a blow dryer. For enzymatic keratin treatments, the hair should be 80% to 100% dry (a very slight amount of residual moisture aids in product absorption).
- Sectioning and product application: Divide the hair into 4 or 6 sections. Starting from the back, take very thin strands. Apply the product to the hair shaft, leaving a 1 cm gap from the roots. Use a fine-toothed comb to remove excess product so the hair is not oversaturated.
- Processing time: Cover the hair with a processing cap or plastic wrap. Allow the product to remain on the hair for 45 to 60 minutes (depending on hair thickness and resilience) to alter the hair structure.
- Critical Step: Lightening (Removing Excess Product). Important Note: Never flat-iron enzymatic keratin directly, as this will burn the hair. Take the hair to the wash station and—using only a water spray or a light rinse—remove approximately 20–30% of the product (the hair should feel neither completely slippery nor saturated with product).
- Complete Drying and Blow-Drying. Dry the treated hair 100% using a gentle airflow. Perform a professional, surface-level blow-dry to ensure the hair strands are completely straight and separated, making the subsequent flat-ironing process easier.
- Professional Flat Ironing: Separate the hair into very thin sections. Iron Temperature: Set to 230°C for natural, thick hair, and lower the temperature for more delicate hair. Number of Passes: Press and carefully flat-iron each section 15 to 25 times until the hair feels completely lightweight and glossy—free of product heaviness—and no more steam rises from it.
- 8. Cooling and Mask Treatment (Final Step) – Cooling: After flat ironing, wait 15 to 20 minutes to allow the hair temperature to drop completely and the new bonds to set. Final Rinse: Rinse the hair thoroughly with lukewarm water only (no shampoo) to remove any product residue.
- Setting with Hair Mask (Mask No. 3): Massage a generous amount of the setting mask (sulfate-free) into the hair strands.
- Processing Time: Leave the mask on the hair for 10 to 15 minutes to fully balance the hair’s pH and seal the cuticles.
- Finishing: Rinse the hair and finally blow-dry it completely, directing the airflow from top to bottom.
